Determination of Selenium(IV) Using o-Phenylenediamine by Differential Pulse Polarography/Interference of Metal Ions

چکیده
Determination of selenium in biological and environmental samples is usually difficult due to its trace or ultra-trace quantities, pre-concentration stages, destruction of organic matrices by acid digestion and oxygen plasma combustion followed by separation from interfering metal ions such as ion exchange separation, solvent extraction or hydride generation. Selective separation of selenium is particularly important in the determination of small amounts of the element in complex materials. These are all time consuming procedures and losses of selenium are also possible. It is therefore very important to accomplish methods with minimal interference. In the electroanalytical determination of selenium, the most serious interfering elements were indicated to be copper, lead, cadmium and tin due to their surface reaction with selenium on a mercury drop electrode. In some voltammetric studies, such as anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) and cathodic ∗Corresponding author

COLUMN PRECONCENTRATION OF URANIUM BY 1 -(2-PY RIDYLAZ0)-2-NAPHTHOL SUPPORTED ON NAPHTHALENE USING DIF'FERENTLAL PULSE POLAROGRAPHY
A solid chelating material, 1-(2-pyridy1azo)-2-naphthol (PAN) supported on naphthalene provides a rapid and highly selective means of preconcentration of uranium from aqueous solution. Uranium is quantitatively retained on this adsorbent in the pH range 9.8-10.7 with a flow rate of 1 ml min . The metal complex was desorbed with 10 ml of 2 M hydrochloric acid and uranium is determined by d...

متن کاملInterference elimination studies during the determination of trace elements in cow liver using differential pulse polarography
The liver is known to accumulate many trace elements; thus it is very important to determine their level in a sensitive way. The objective of this study was to develop a simple method for the simultaneous determination of trace elements in cow liver in which the elimination of interference can be accomplished. It was observed that Cd, Pb, Zn, and Cu ions could not be determined correctly in the...
متن کاملDetermination of citrate as its iron(III) complex by differential pulse polarography.
A method for determining citrate as its complex with iron(II1) by differential pulse polarography is described. The method is sensitive to 5 pg ml-1 of citrate, without any interference from equimolar propan-2-onedicarboxylate and propenetricarboxylate ions and 10% of oxalate and tartrate ions. The limits of error in citrate concentrations determined by the proposed method are better than &2.6y...
